Commuvia respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the Commuvia mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

a. Account Information

• Name
• Email address
• User ID

b. Ride Information

• Ride details you create (start and end locations, date and time, available seats)
• Ride requests, approvals, and participation status

c. Messages

Messages sent within the app are stored to enable communication between users and to support safety, moderation, and abuse prevention.

d. Technical Information

We collect limited technical information such as timestamps, authentication identifiers, and system logs required for security, fraud prevention, and reliable operation of the service. We do not collect precise device identifiers or location data beyond what users explicitly provide.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information only to:

• Provide core app functionality
• Enable ride coordination between users
• Facilitate in-app messaging
• Maintain platform safety and integrity
• Respond to abuse reports and moderation requests

3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

• Firebase (Google LLC) for authentication, database storage, and security
• Apple Inc. for Sign in with Apple authentication

These providers process data only on our behalf and in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to provide the service and comply with legal and safety obligations.

When you delete your account:

• Your user profile is permanently deleted
• Your ride participation and requests are removed
• Your messages are anonymized (sender identity removed)
• Safety and moderation reports may be retained for legal and security purposes

If you are located in the European Union, you have the right to:

• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data

Commuvia provides tools to block users, hide rides or messages, and report inappropriate content.

Reported content is reviewed and acted upon within 24 hours. Content that violates our safety guidelines may be removed, and accounts may be restricted or permanently deleted.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children’s Privacy

Commuvia is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

10. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed outside your country of residence. Where required, appropriate safeguards are applied in accordance with GDPR.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
